‘Chili-Impressions’ is the travel journal kept by Robert Cahen during his 1987 stay in Chile. Just as the sheets of paper in a notebook overlap, the images, constantly superimposed on each other, always seem to emerge from behind the memory: the wind, the river, the railways, carry these images back to the source – the journey is never-ending: it goes back even further, all the way to the exquisite vibration felt when one’s sensibilities are affected by the simple power of a few ephemeral scenes which suddenly speak the meaning of place, the place that this world is.
