Un réalisateur taïwanais tourne l’histoire du mythe de Salomé au musée du Louvre. Bien qu’il ne sache ni l’anglais ni le français, il tient absolument à confier le rôle du roi Hérode au comédien Jean-Pierre Léaud. Pour donner à ce film quelque chance, la production confie le rôle de Salomé à une star de renommée internationale. Mais dès le début du tournage, les problèmes s’accumulent... Un vieux canon à neige, loué pour une scène musicale se révèle une sorte d’antiquité qui sème le désordre et la confusion. Jean-Pierre Léaud, fidèle à sa légende se présente sans prévenir sur le plateau alors qu’il n’est pas convoqué et y déclenche des catastrophes. Enfin la star (Laetitia Casta), contre toute attente, tombe follement amoureuse d’un grand cerf qui disparaît mystérieusement. Dans la confusion générale, le réalisateur apprend brutalement la mort de sa mère. La productrice doit s’envoler pour Taipei afin de se rendre aux obsèques et ramener le réalisateur à Paris. Mais le réalisateur sombre dans un profond sommeil. La productrice n’a d’autre choix que d’attendre, perdue dans une ville étrangère. Comme après un très long voyage, le tournage reprend, mais chacun s’est égaré sur des chemins différents. La star obsédée par son image occulte fenêtre et miroirs, la productrice part à la recherche désespérée de Jean-Pierre Léaud qui sortira d’un ultime cadre avant de quitter la scène, et le réalisateur blessé par le deuil prend la place de Jean Le Baptiste, dans l’impossibilité de remettre en place le puzzle de ces vies éparpillées

A Taiwanese filmmaker shoots the myth of Salomé at the Louvre. Although he speaks neither English nor French, he insists absolutely on giving the role of King Herod to the actor Jean-Pierre Léaud. To give the film a chance, the production gives the role of Salome to a star of international renown. But from the beginning of the shoot, problems accumulate ... An old snow cannon, rented for a musical scene, happens to be a kind of antiquity which sows disorder and confusion. Jean-Pierre Léaud, true to his legend, comes without warning on the set while he is not called, and triggers disasters. Finally, the star (Laetitia Casta), against all odds, falls madly in love with a big deer which mysteriously disappears. In the general confusion, the director suddenly learns the death of his mother. The producer has to take off to Taipei to attend the funeral and bring the director back to Paris. But the director falls into a deep sleep. The producer has no other choice but to wait, lost in a foreign city. Like after a very long journey, the shooting resumes, but each lost himself in different paths. The star, obsessed with her image, hides window and mirrors, the producer launches herself into the desperate search for Jean-Pierre Léaud, who will get out of a final frame before leaving the scene, and the director, hurt by mourning, takes the place of John the Baptist, unable to put the scattered puzzle of these lives back in place.
