La première guerre du Golfe a été l’occasion d’un déferlement médiatique à visée belliciste aux États-Unis et ailleurs dans le monde. Des collectifs de vidéastes indépendants ont réagi en réalisant et en diffusant largement par tous moyens des images alternatives (cf. Monde diplomatique, mai 1991, Nathalie Magnan, Camescope contre Télévision, Video-résistance à l’heure des satellites). De retour en France, Nathalie Magnan participe au collectif Canal déchaîné qui livre dans ce film une analyse de la manière dont TF1 a couvert cette guerre à travers un montage d’images et sons de TF1 et d’entretiens avec des intellectuels (Serge Daney, Félix Guattari…), avec des employé.es de TF1 (script de nuit, journalistes) et d’autres personnalités (Amiral Sanguinetti...)

The first Gulf War was the occasion for a media surge with warmongering aims in the United States and elsewhere in the world. Independent video collectives reacted by producing and widely distributing alternative images through various means (cf. Monde diplomatique, May 1991, Nathalie Magnan, Camescope contre Télévision, Video-resistance à l'heure des satellites). On her return to France, Nathalie Magnan worked with the Canal déchaîné collective, which in this film provides an analysis of the way the main French channel TF1 covered this war, through a montage of images and sounds from TF1 and interviews with intellectuals (Serge Daney, Félix Guattari, etc.), TF1 employees (night scriptwriter, journalists) and other personalities (Admiral Sanguinetti).
