2004: date limite d'exploitation des mines de potasse en Alsace. Paysage lunaire, apocalyptique, les friches industrielles minières s'étalent déjà dans leur "sublime" désolation. 2004 est un hommage à un des plus vieux métiers du monde. En cours de disparition sous sa forme actuelle il est sans doute appelé à devenir un des plus mythiques. Du fond des galeries à la surface... du carreau à la salle des pendus, les mineurs portent "sur eux" et "en eux", les traces des entrailles de la terre.
2004: the last year for potash mining in Alsace. Lunar, apocalyptic landscape, the industrial desert of the mines already spreads out in its "sublime" desolation. 2004 is an homage to one of the oldest professions in the world. While disappearing in its present form, it will probably become one of the most mythical professions of all. From the bottom of the galleries to the surface... from the bank to the minors' changing room, the minors carry "on them" and "in them", the traces of the entrails of the earth.
