Né en 1962 à Bienne, Suisse, Eric Lanz a étudié à l'École d'arts visuels de Genève et à la Staatliche Kunstakademie de Düsseldorf. Il vit et travaille à Genève et Düsseldorf. Il réalise des vidéos et des installations depuis 1983. Ses vidéos figurent dans les collections de la Kunsthaus de Zurich, de Saint-Gervais, Genève, du Kunstmuseum de Saint-Gall et du Kunstmuseum de Berne.
Il enseigne au ZKM de Karlsruhe.

Eric Lanz was born in Biel, Switzerland, in 1962 and today lives in Düsseldorf. After his studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Professor Nam June Paik he worked as the latter’s assistant. Apart from his own artistic work, Eric Lanz has had teaching engagements at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe in the area of media art, and at the Kunsthochschule Mainz in the new media class. Since the start of the winter semester 2010/2011 he has held a professorship for video and artistic photography at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar.
