Who are these drifting people on the sidelines of the American dream? Those who have lost everything, those who have left everything, those who have fallen into drugs, those who live in deprived neighborhoods, isolated regions, those who survive or struggle to reinvent their lives, those of America from below (rednecks or not) who helped to elect Trump, those minority communities - African-Americans and Black Indians - who fight for their rights, their cultures, the recognition of their identities?
Through six deeply moving documentaries, another America is given to us. An America objectified or neglected by the traditional media, and which, thanks to the benevolent looks of the filmmakers, takes shape and invites us to review our view of it, to make it more complex.
Six films that show lives in transition, individualities in contradiction, territories in tension, and that draw like a mapping of the reverse of the American dream through Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, California, Maryland ( Baltimore). Six powerful documentaries, because they escape any form of miserabilism and they restore to minority voices, stifled, all their possibilities of expression.
