Summary :
The coming of a baby forces us to undertake a subtle, almost imperceptible, inner process. The event leads us to create a welcoming space within our mind for the baby, a space that is under the influence both of the past and the future. This process, although difficult for some, seems very natural for others. The meeting between the baby and the parents will cause the respective paths of independence from one another to cross. The baby will provide all the affection his parents need. Slowly, however, the outside world will have to intrude upon the relationship. The real baby is sometimes very different from the imaginary baby. Adjusting to the baby and leading it towards autonomy while remaining themselves will perhaps also lead the parents to their own autonomy.
