Summary :
“Des Goûts et des Couleurs” (“Tastes and colours”) is not another cooking programme. It is cooking mixed with stories, trips and the generosity of those who share with us a recipe from their country or their region.
More than a cooking recipe, it is the colours of memories of dishes shared with their family or their friends, in Senegal, Algeria, Martinique or Nîmes.
They are no great chefs; they are, in some way, our neighbours, which were chosen to represent a part of the diversity and cultural richness that surround us.
The originality of this series lies in its entertaining and surprising way of staging each recipe. The hand that works never appears on screen. There is a magic and sensual delight in, for instance, the way that a head of garlic opens up and gets rid of its skin before it crumples in many tiny pieces on a chopping board.
With a lot of humour, the filming technique uses, as in cooking, a lot of ingredients: pixillation, animation, graph 8, real shooting, computer graphics.
These recipes are served and spiced up with sound effects, traditional music, and an original soundtrack by Bernard Lubat and André Minvielle.
