Heure Exquise !
International centre for video arts is a non-profit organisation specialised in the promotion
and preservation of video arts and video creations.

The distribution catalogue is regularly enriched and covers a wide variety: video art, creative documentaries, new images and animation. This mission is carried out both in France and abroad in partnership with cultural institutions and organisations, teaching and training schools, festivals and events.
The Heure Exquise! team helps and advises programmers and curators for their screenings, proposes programme themes and "cartes blanches". Heure Exquise! creates and organises public screenings.
Heure Exquise! also ensures the distribution of the audiovisual collections of the Louvre and the Musée D'Orsay
The Heure Exquise! archive specialises in contemporary art, is open to the public and houses monographs, artists' videos, documentaries on art, exhibition catalogues, specialised magazine. More than 4,000 documents tracing the history of electronic arts, from pioneers to contemporary artists, are available in the documentation and research center. This unique place safeguards one of the most important collections dedicated to electronic and digital arts in France.

HISTORY

Starting in 1975 by artists collective, Heure Exquise! has progressively set up its activities of distribution, screenings of creative videos.
Historically, Heure Exquise! worked with pioneering video artists such as Roland Baladi, Dominique Belloir, Alain Bourges, Robert Cahen, Patrick De Geetere, Jean-Paul Fargier, Michaël Gaumnitz, Jean-François Guiton, Jérôme Lefdup, Jean-Louis Le Tacon, Pierre Lobstein…
With the increasing demand of authors and professionals (programmers and distributors), the catalogue of Heure Exquise! grows steadily and presently has more than 2,500 titles which comprises nearly 650 artists including

ACTIVITIES

> Distribution

Heure Exquise ! promotes more than 2500 artists' works
The distribution department aims to work in order to provide:
- promotion of artists' works from the curators and programmers : meetings, preview shows, program propositions, "cartes blanches" in festival inclusions of video in festivals
- publishing communication and information support about artists' works
- submission of the videos in festivals' competitions

All videos in the catalogue are available for rental for exhibitions and screenings.

Heure Exquise! also ensures the distribution of the audiovisual collections of the Louvre Museum and the collection of the Musée D'Orsay

> Programming to promote video art and audiovisual creations with :

- a annual programme of screenings entitled "Temps Forts"
- multiplication of types of programmes: documentaries, experimental cinema, video art, video clip and performance. For example: "MusicVideoArt"; a night about musical video creation and "Aperodoc"; a regular rendez-vous with a documentary screening presented by the author.
- diversification of the audiences and venues.

Heure Exquise ! coordinates Le Mois du film documentaire in the Nord / Pas-de-Calais, unmissable event about documentary movies and videos declined throughout France, DOM-TOM and French cultural centers abroad.
Heure Exquise ! is a member of the steering committee of the festival Les E-magiciens - European Young Digital Creation, organised by the Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Valenciennes.

> Documentation center / Education

The documentation and research center of Heure Exquise ! proposes a large acces to one specialised archives about contemporary creation, espacially new media arts. More than 4000 documents (artists' works, videos, exhibitions catalogues, books, magazines) are available in our new library.

Heure Exquise ! organises theoretical practice regarding history of video art and contemporary creation in visual art for students in collaboration with teachers

> Preservation / Digitalization

Heure Exquise! has undertaken the digitization of its archives since 2005, and offer an online access to the database.

> Atelier Vidéo Art Plastique

The studio (established in 2004 by Heure Exquise ! and Monac 1) enables artists and filmmakers living in the Nord / Pas-de-Calais to complete their projects while forming. The goal is to empower designers, and help productions with limited resources. The workshop is open to projects specifically related to visual art and experimental video, and transdisciplinary creation (video, installations, live performances).
